Lit Device Short Story
It all went wrong
Once upon a time, there was a young Jewish boy who had been waiting his whole life to have his Bar Mitzvah. His name was Max Goldman. He lived a good life, he had lots of friends and a very loving family. His family had lots of money and he had a good education. His life was perfect until his Bar Mitzvah. His Bar Mitzvah was like poison. One day he told his story.
I was a young boy. I belonged to a small Jewish temple far away from my house, my family did not live in a jewish neighborhood. I was reading the section of Bireshit from the Torah for my Bar Mitzvah. The morning of my Bar Mitzvah I woke up late. I only had one hour until my service. My family got into the car we had thirty minutes to get to my Bar Mitzvah. My Temple was 30 minutes away.
My parents car would not start. I said, “what happened?” they said “The car will not start”. It was the best of times it was the worst of times. My dad started working on the car after and thirty minutes he said, “All done, the cord to the battery was cut.” I said “ I was late. Late to my Bar Mitzvah.” Someone or something did not want me to have my Bar Mitzvah.
We started driving to my Bar Mitzvah. When we got there we were 30 minutes late. The Rabbi was mad, he said, “Everyone has been waiting for you for 30 minutes!” I started my service and it was easy as pie to read, after all of my studying. I did everything perfect! Everyone congratulated me and said Mazel Tov. I was so happy! The party was going to start 5 hours after the service. Thirty minutes after we got home, the lights flicked for two solid minutes and then the power when out. Today was cursed! I took a nap and woke up to my parents yelling “come on get ready you are going to be late to your Bar Mitzvah party.” I got ready and we left.
My party started and it was great until about halfway through. The power turned off, the music shut down and there was a huge electric spark which caused a wormhole to form. The scariest monster popped out and started hurting people. The monster had 5 sets of extremely sharp teeth. He was a light gray color. His skin has the same amount of blood on it that a freshly cut steak has. He was so scary, he had bones showing and blood was coming out of him. Everyone darted down the stairway of the building. It was like the fire alarm went off. It was a pretty ugly day.
Everyone got very lucky, only 4 out of the 250 people got severely injured, everyone else was okay. However, the only upside was that we got all our money back. Someone called 911. The police and ambulances came but they had no clue what happened. The ambulances took the four severely injured people to the hospital. The venue was condemned and was knocked down so it did not happen again. It was the safe thing to do.
Four months later, the four people were released from the hospital. My family threw another Bar Mitzvah party at another venue and the party turned out perfect!
The end.
